Base Hit: Mobile Homepage Load From 12.4 Seconds to 3.4

The at-bat: Base hit.
Client: Southeast Bee Removal, metro Atlanta, GA
Change: Mobile homepage speed fixes
Date: August 3 to 7, 2026

What we did

Preloaded the homepage hero image and gave it top loading priority. Served images as WebP and AVIF. Removed a duplicate jQuery load, self-hosted the main font and lazy-loaded a YouTube embed of about 800 KB.

Why we did it

Page speed is always a big thing for any site. There's always a reason if a page is loading slowly. More than likely, it's dropping customers.

What moved

  • Largest Contentful Paint on mobile went from 12.4 seconds to 3.4.
  • First Contentful Paint went from 8.7 seconds to 2.2.
  • The mobile PageSpeed performance score went from 53 to 89.

What didn't

3.4 seconds is still over Google's 2.5-second line for a good score. Webflow's core CSS and JavaScript still block rendering, and that isn't something the site can change on its own.

About the data: these are Google PageSpeed Insights lab measurements, taken before and after the fixes. They aren't traffic or calls, and I'm not claiming any change in either from this work.
