Two weeks ago was the Tech SEO Connect conference in Durham, NC.
Since starting this SEO business earlier this year, I wanted to continue learning and fine tuning my craft, that being SEO. See my recap of the LocalU conference I went to in Nashville earlier on this year.
I was referred to this seo conference by Noah Learner from The SEO Community.
If you don't know already, there are many aspects of SEO such as local seo (which I primarily work in), ecommerce seo and technical seo could also be another field.
Summary of the event
Schema markup, also known as structured data, is still incredibly important. LLM.TXT is irrelevant - don't waste your time. Content freshness is a big deal. And finally, making sure you're able to work well with stakeholders and display/show your value in seo is a MUST as businesses look for answers when trying to answer customer attribution.
There were many talks about AI / GEO / AEO and generally just around how to rank in LLMS (structured data... RAG (retrieval-augmented generation)).
You can find all the talks on their youtube page. Here is the first talk of the day.
The highlight of the conference for me
Networking. I was able to connect with MANY people much smarter than me, ones that have built and sold businesses, own agencies, and are experts in their field of seo.
People like Matthew with SEO Gets. Jade with HelloSEO. Tony with Redirection. Andrew with MetaMonster.
Why does this matter for Base Hit?
Staying up to date with seo strategies allows me to keep my focus narrow on strategies that help my customers. The seo strategies help the companies I work with stay ahead of their competitors. These aren't quick win tactics, these are tactics that are tested, studied, implemented and tied back to ROI.
Now back to work - trying to help my clients grow their business with one aspect of marketing...SEO.
